Pictures atachement

In all six pictures there are old poplar trunks I found in one locality in Southern Albania, 1 km northwest from the village Qeserat (40°23'41.24"N, 19°52'15.10"E). Photo J. Mertlik

To find old trees in Albania is really difficult. Few smaller forests were kept in only hardly accessible mountain areas, most of others were logged-over few years ago by italian timber companies.
In 2010 I found one old poplar grove growing on the Vjosa river bank, southern from the village Qeserat (40°23'02.05"N, 19°52'49.11"E).
Within the eyeshot from this growe there was a lumberyard of poplar trunks (40°23'41.24"N, 19°52'15.10"E). The rotten poplar wood was inhabited by rare saproxylophageous beetle species. Beside the two named species, Drapetes mordelloides and Farsus dubius, there were active also sawyer beetles Aegosoma scabricorne (Scopoli, 1763), jewel-beetles Eurythyrea aurata (Pallas, 1776), click-betles Lacon punctatus (Herbst, 1779) and few other saproxylophageous beetle species from other families.

Then my thanks belong to colleague Ladislav Ernest (Nymburk), finder of turkish specimen of the species Hylis matthiesseni, which he gave to my collection. I also thank to all above named colleagues who provided me data from their collections.
Then I thank to my colleague Václav Dušánek, Ivo Jeniš (Náklo) and Tamás Németh (Budapest) for providing photos of imagos. For english translation I thank to Klára Máziková (Český Brod).
