Abstract. Records of Lacon nadaii Platia & Németh, 2011 and Lacon unicolor (Candéze, 1874) are listed. Published records of L. unicolor from Turkey were revised and the specimens proved to belong to L. nadaii. Additional specimens of L. nadaii were found in Turkey, Iran and Iraq. Habitus and habitat photographs of both species and distributional map are also given.

Key words: Coleoptera, Elateridae, Lacon nadaii, L. unicolor, distribution, Asia, Iran, Iraq, Turkey

DISCUSSION

Lacon nadaii is compared by original description to Lacon unicolor for the general shape and size. Lacon nadaii can be easily separated from L. unicolor by black piceous colour, shagreened dorsal surface giving this species a dull appearance, and shorter third antennomere.
We had at our disposal 8 specimens of. L. nadaii and 40 specimens of L. unicolor. The characters used in the differential diagnoses are mostly stable, only one specimen of L. nadaii from Haberli (Turkey) has the third antennomere similar to that of L. unicolor, and one specimen from Khurmal (Iraq) has the coloration of basal part of elytra and hind pronotal angles the same as L. unicolor. Except these two cases, both species can be easily separated by the original descriptions.
The above mentioned list of records for L. nadaii and L. unicolor enable us to delimit the borders of distributional areas of these species (Fig. 5). Both species are distríbuted in Armenian-Iranian province in Iraq-Turanian area of Holarctis. Lacon nadaii occurs in the northwestern part of that province, whilst L. unicolor is distributed in the central part.
The bionomics of both species is unknown. Several specimens were collected by beating oak branches, however, the majority of specimens were collected at light.
