Faunistic mapping of the species of the families Cerophytidae, Elateridae, Eucnemidae and Throscidae (Coleoptera: Elateroidea) in the territory of the Czechia and Slovakia.
On 1 January 2025, a complete update of the faunistic maps of the Czechia and Slovakia (202 maps) was made, for species of the families Cerophytidae (1), Elateridae (164), Eucnemidae (25) and Throscidae (12). Faunistic maps of the species of the tribe Drilini Blanchard, 1845 and the subfamily Omalisinae Lacordaire, 1857 are not included here, because I have not studied these species so far.
Faunistic maps are at: https://www.elateridae.com

This paper provides an overview of published and new findings of the species Dirrhagofarsus attenuatus from the Czechia and Slovakia. The first comprehensive study on species of the family Eucnemidae known from the Czechia and Slovakia (Mertlik 2008) mentions only the species D. attenuatus, which at that time was known only from three faunistic squares in the Czechia (from southern Moravia). Muona (2007) was the first to report the species D. attenuatus from Slovakia. I also report the first findings of the species D. modestus from Poland and Slovakia.

In this paper we present an overview of published and new records of the rarely distributed species Mycetophagus ater (Reitter, 1879) from Bohemia, which I managed to collect during the faunistic mapping of selected species of the family Mycetophagidae in the Czech Republic.

This study summarizes the results of faunistic surveys and monitoring conducted in the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area and Biosphere Reserve between 2022 and 2024, focusing on the order Coleoptera. This fifth installment provides insights into 80 species and one subspecies newly recorded for this area. Among them, six species are newly recorded for the Czech Republic: Atheta minuscula, Oxypoda tarda, Phloeopora nitidiventris, Zoosetha inconspicua (Staphylinidae), Ropalodontus novorossicus, and R. strandi (Ciidae). Additionally, five species are newly recorded for the Bohemian region: Acrotrichis rosskotheni (Ptiliidae), Atheta debiloides (Staphylinidae), Dorcatoma ambjoerni (Ptinidae), Notoxus appendicinus (Anthicidae), and Silvanus recticollis (Silvanidae). We also provide new data on several species listed in the Red List of Threatened Species of the Czech Republic and other species of special significance, for example, from a faunistic perspective. Newly recorded for Křivoklátsko are also invasive species that have been relatively recently discovered in the Czech Republic, including Carpophilus lugubris and Stelidota geminata (Nitidulidae), Cynaeus angustus (Tenebrionidae), Dactylosternum abdominale (Hydrophilidae), Lamprodila festiva (Buprestidae), and Xylosandrus germanus (Curculionidae)). In connection with the findings of remarkable steppe leaf beetles Chrysolina kuesteri and Cheilotoma musciformis, we evaluate a significant portion of the recent records in the area as a consequence of global warming. We also emphasize the importance of three ecologically valuable sites in Křivoklátsko, such as steppe patches in Lánská obora game park, in the National Nature Reserve Týřov, and in the Natural Monument Stará Ves near Hudlice, which serve as refugia for rare species and stepping stones for internal migration. Among the newly recorded notable species, the rove beetle Scopaeus debilis was also collected. The total number of species recorded in Křivoklátsko to date stands at 3 759, including 59 species known only from records before 1961. Of the total species count, 862 are listed in the Red List of Threatened Species of the Czech Republic – Invertebrates, representing a full 22.9% of all recorded species in the area.

In this paper I present an overview of published and new records of Prosternon chrysocomum from the territory of the Czechia and Slovakia, which I collected during my private program of faunistic mapping of species of the families Cerophytidae, Elateridae, Eucnemidae and Throscidae in the territory of the Czechia and Slovakia (Mertlik 2007-2024). I also present here his first records for the territory of Croatia and Northern Macedonia.
